go back to cleveland

P.S. Jaret Wright still sucks.

11-10

OK, if the Yankees lose 9 games in a row, I'm selling or ditching all my Yankees shit.  That's a promise.

mussina and posada

Check out this great story about how Mussina refined one of his pitches in spring training.  The Moose was pitching to Posada in a 2006 spring training intrasquad game, and Posada saw what pitch was coming in a 3-2 count...

Wise guys - Mussina, Maddux, Schilling lead pitching's old guard

randy rocking-chair

Have I mentioned recently that I'm sick of Randy Johnson?

I saw the two Toronto games on the schedule and thought, oh good, here come two easy wins that the team needs.  Also, it presented a first opportunity to play the eastern division.

Is Toronto really that much better of a team this year?

Meanwhile, Wang is really earning his pinstripes.  He's a damn good player and he's not even from this country.

giambi's fault

The Yankees are out shopping for a defensive first baseman.  The combination of a strong offense, a shaky pitching staff, and the lack of Tino Martinez finally became apparent to team management.  This also makes me think Giambi will have plenty of 6-inning games this year, not to mention days off.

I don't think Giambi will win out over Bernie Williams as designated hitter.  What we saw a few games ago with Bernie playing right field and Gary Sheffield as the DH seemed like a winning combination for the short-term.  Then Gary can return to the outfield and Bernie can continue hitting well.

Jason could surprise us all in the end.  This is the year he could decide to become a professional player.

moose on the hill

Mussina threw over 100 pitches against Oakland in his first start of the season, allowing 3 earned runs across 7 innings.  Myers, Farnsworth, and Proctor pitched in relief.

Unfortunately, Proctor gave up a winning RBI single after two walks.  He has been concerned about his family recently, so I don't hold the loss against him.

good job, yankees

The Yankees dominated the Athletics in their first game of the 2006 season.  Randy Johnson had a quality start and there were some monster hits.

Awesome.
