a small contribution

Aaron Small got a start in Baltimore on Sunday.  He allowed 7 earned runs in 2.2 innings.  My previous post looks rather unfortunate at this point.

small's earned run average

Aaron Small has a high ERA right now.

In 2005, Small had an outstanding 10-0 record and a 3.20 ERA.  He filled in holes in the Yankees starting rotation.

How long will it take for Small to return to form?  Last year, his achievements could have resulted from the regular appearances, getting into a rhythm, really feeling the weight of the situation.  Coming in for relief, potentially in dangerous situations, isn't his strong suit right now.  He should be a starter.  When push comes to shove, there are a few starters (Jaret Wright, Randy Johnson) who right now deserve to be shoved for the kind of pitcher that Small was in 2005.

a mission for roger

Roger Clemens will throw from the rubber again in 2006.  Clemens rejoins the Houston Astros, who will pay him a pro-rated $22 million salary.

Can Roger really help the Astros this year?  Can he inspire the rest of the team to return to the playoffs and advance to the World Series?  Or does he have other, more secret plans?

Plans to, for example, plunk Barry Bonds?
